As a LDS Christian, I stand with all members of the LDS church that I personally know condemn the actions of the the charlatan Warren Jeffs. Joseph Smith didn't form a secret cult, the church was established publicly in New York. Joseph Smith didn't take any wife that was under age. A few other notes on what you said that the LDS church didn't allow blacks to join is incorrect. Blacks weren't ordained into the priesthood. Joseph Smith never claimed to be a "reformer" he was a restorationist, the gospel in its fulness. The comment that members live in poverty in Salt Lake City, Utah, is misinformed at best. And further to say that LDS are without the Love of God is offense. We practiced polygamy as the same as did the Old Testament patriarchs, Abraham, Issac and Jacob to name the most common ones. The legal pressures that the United States placed on the church for purely prejudice motives forced the LDS west to Utah and even there in an area that wasn't even an offical territory of the US government they were harrassed by politicans that were ignorant. The revelations that came from God to the prophets of the Old Testament came when God decided to give them. Once upon a time Gentiles were rejected, then after the ressurection of Christ Jesus all were accepted by the Lord of Isreal, Jew and Gentile alike. So there is a point in which God has changed His commandments. Furthermore, the comment about the teachings of the Apostle Paul and the monogamy are not in the original Greek text, they were added by the Latin translators that were celeibate, sexist priest of the Roman Catholic church, who at that time still had the monopoly on the Bible. Not a single person outside of the heirachy of the priesthood of the Roman church had access to it. So naturally things were changed. I don't agree with some of the partial truths but it might be better to get the facts from a source as opposed to a critic that has animosity towards a group. If I want to know about Islam, I ask a Muslim, not a Jew. If I want to understand the Baha'i Faith I don't ask a Sikh. If you want the straight information of Mormonism, then ask a Latter-day Saint. God Bless.
